We will gather in the small town of Palinuro on the Cilento Coast, at the southern end of Campania, Italy, to celebrate the scientific career of Francesca Matteucci.
Francesca has contributed tremendously to the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics that today is called Galactic Archaeology. Her interests encompass stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, the formation and evolution of galaxies, and the history of chemical enrichment of the interstellar and intergalactic media.
This broad range of interests led her to collaborate with several colleagues from many different institutes and countries. Francesca's intense research activity was accompanied by equally intense teaching and mentoring. During her forty-year career, she raised generations of scientists, including many women scientists. She definitely is a role model for younger generations of women researchers who want to pursue their scientific careers.
We invite the collaborators and friends of Francesca, as well as those who do not know her, but would like to, at Grand Hotel San Pietro, Palinuro, Italy. Here we will celebrate her many scientific achievements, while also appreciating the beautiful beaches and delicious food. Because, as Francesca likes to point out, we must work hard but also enjoy life.
